On Sunday, the Dubai International Stadium witnessed a batting masterclass from Abhishek Sharma as India faced Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash. Abhishek, in blazing form, tore into the Pakistan bowling attack and powered India to a comfortable six-wicket victory. His innings of 74 runs from just 39 balls was not only entertaining but also record-breaking.
The young batter reached his fifty in just 24 balls, overtaking his mentor Yuvraj Singh’s record for the fastest half-century by an Indian against Pakistan in T20 internationals. Yuvraj had earlier set the mark with a 29-ball fifty in 2012.
But Abhishek’s achievements didn’t stop there. He became the fastest batter in T20I history to hit 50 sixes, reaching the milestone in only 331 balls. This broke the previous record held by West Indies’ Evin Lewis, who took 366 balls.
With this feat, Abhishek also became the first batter to smash 50 sixes in fewer than 350 deliveries.

Notably, Abhishek's dominance at the crease, alongside Shubman Gill’s 47 from 28 balls, gave India a flying start. The pair added 105 runs in under 10 overs, registering India’s first-ever century opening stand against Pakistan in T20Is.
The Abhishek–Gill stand was also the first century partnership for any team in the ongoing Asia Cup, across all matches and all teams.
Talking about the match, Pakistan batted first and posted 171 runs. At one stage, they looked on course for a bigger score, thanks to Sahibzada Farhan’s fifty and a brisk partnership with Saim Ayub. However, India’s spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav put the brakes on the scoring, and Shivam Dube’s unexpected bowling spell dealt further blows by removing both openers. A late cameo from Faheem Ashraf pushed Pakistan beyond 170, but it still felt below par.
India’s reply was clinical. Abhishek’s fireworks and Gill’s fluent 47 set up the chase perfectly. Even after quick wickets in the middle, Tilak Varma finished things off with an unbeaten 30 from 19 balls. India sealed the win in just 18.5 overs, stamping their authority early in the Super 4 stage.
