Pakistan’s speedster Haris Rauf faced massive embarrassment in Dubai after Indian openers trashed him in the Super Four clash of the Asia Cup 2025. As Rauf took position on the boundary line, the crowd erupted into ‘Kohli, Kohli’ chants to mock the pacer.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a strong total of 172 runs after Sahibzada Farhan hit 58 off 45 balls. However, in the chase, things went haywire as Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill caused havoc.
Haris Rauf Trolled Heavily With Virat Kohli Chants
Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill were charged up, smashing a 105-run opening partnership inside 10 overs. Haris Rauf, in particular, conceded 12 runs in his first over, followed by a heated exchange with Sharma.
As Rauf moved back to the boundary line to bowl, the Dubai crowd erupted in ‘Kohli, Kohli’ chants. The Pakistani pacer was visibly rattled as he flicked his ears as a gesture that he was ignoring the trash talk.
Notably, Haris Rauf has historically been tormented by Virat Kohli. During the 2022 T20 World Cup, the Indian legend famously hit a huge six down the ground to Rauf, which is largely recognised as one of the best shots seen on a cricket field.
That being said, the India vs Pakistan Super Four clash saw tensions flare up. In the second inning, Shaheen Afridi exchanged words with Gill and Sharma, followed by Rauf having a word with Abhishek too.
Things escalated quickly as umpires intervened and urged both sides to calm their tempers down and focus on cricket.
Meanwhile, India cruised the chase. Despite Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill’s dismissals, the required rate was under control. Tilak Varma hit the winning runs by slamming Shaheen Afridi for a four to wrap up the chase in 18.5 overs.
This will be India’s second win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 after they initially beat the men in green in the group stage game.
