A thumping win for India in the end, and they would be proud of this effort after some early jitters. Rohit won the toss and elected to bat first, but India lost their captain early, and after that Pant, Kohli and Dube could also not last long. Rashid removed all three, but Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya stitched a brilliant stand, and took India to safer shores, despite Fazalhaq Farooqi picking wickets at the backend. 

India got to 181 in the end, and in the run-chase, Afghanistan just never looked on the right path. Bumrah got rid of dangerous Rahmanullah Gurbaz on just his second ball and soon spinners joined the act as well as Afghans kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The left-arm orthodox spin duo of Axar-Jadeja got one wicket apiece while Kuldeep with his wrist spin got two important wickets. Arshdeep Singh then joined the party with three wickets as India registered a comprehensive win.
