In A Most Fairy Tale Route At Chinnaswamy, KL Rahul Makes A Statement In RCB’s Heart

Kannaur Lokesh Rahul, an Indian household name referred to as the most promising cricketer in the past decade who has often failed to perform to his potential. Even though some statements are nothing but myths, this one is not among them, keeping in mind that he got plenty of opportunities to make a name for himself for both club and country.

However, Rahul, 32 now, is not done yet. His charisma in the recently concluded Champions Trophy was more than enough to tell the audience that there is a lot of cricket left in him. And to take it forward on Thursday, Rahul shut down all the critics as ideally as possible with a well-crafted knock at his real home, Chinnaswamy.

Throughout his presence, the innings was laced with sheer class, pure grace and unmatched aura, turning the high-voltage DC versus RCB IPL clash into an absolute cinema.

Rahul Takes The Long Road Instead Of An Easy One!

Although there are only a few who can match Rahul’s stature in the IPL, the elegant batter from Bangalore has not received anywhere near the respect he would have originally deserved. His journey began with RCB, followed by two average seasons with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and 2015 before reuniting with his home franchise in 2016.

However, despite strong performance with the former franchise in 2016, Rahul was neither retained nor RTM-ed by RCB in the auction, potentially due to their team strategy and his injury woes.

To prove their decision wrong, Rahul reached new heights in the coming four years while playing for his third franchise, Punjab Kings, which included a magnificent 132 not out against RCB. It was sweet because it came from Dubai. Nonetheless, what happened at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was nothing but delicious.

In between, Rahul joined Lucknow Super Giants as well, but all he received from them was nothing but disrespect. The Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise chose Rishabh Pant over him before the ongoing edition, and Rahul made their lives miserable with every passing day while representing DC.

He is letting his bat do the talking.

The Gesture Was Smooth, But The Trip Won't Be!

Even though every cricket fan has their own favourite superhero, a few make the whole world smile with their charm, personality and the skillset of knowing how to handle the pressure situation. Rahul, without any doubt, is one of them, and therefore, the gesture that he made at the Chinnaswamy turf gave satisfaction (even if it was temporary) to a lot of people.

Nevertheless, let us not forget that Rahul, even though he is batting like a dream, is primarily projected to be used as the middle-order batter for DC in IPL 2025. Yet, he has been successful in this position in the past, but lately, this is something new to him.

More importantly, it was not a mountain to climb against RCB, as the others would demand more from him when the stakes would be higher. Will Rahul succeed when everyone crosses their fingers in the next one and a half months, just like they were relying on him during the 2023 World Cup final?

If he does, that would be a tight slap on the faces of many who kept on doubting him and did not allow him to get a clear-cut path in order to make his life bigger and better.
