After being sent in to bat first, RCB came out swinging with Philip Salt and Virat Kohli launching an early assault on the DC bowlers. Salt was especially aggressive, smashing 37 off just 17 deliveries with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes, while Kohli supported with a brisk 22 off 14 balls. The pair added 61 runs in under four overs, laying what looked like the foundation for a big total.
However, what followed was a dramatic collapse. RCB slumped from 74/2 to 125/7, losing wickets at regular intervals and failing to recover from the middle-order collapse. It was only Tim David’s late blitz, a valiant 37 off 20 balls*, including 2 fours and 4 sixes, that pushed RCB past the 163-mark.
