KL Rahul, Spinners Help Capitals Jolt RCB
Delhi Capitals engulfed hosts RCB by six wickets in Bengaluru in match 24 of the IPL 2025 season. Winning the toss and opting to field first, Capitals spinners Vipraj Nigam (2-18) and Kuldeep Yadav (2-17) picked up two wickets each to restrict RCB to 163-7 from 20 overs upfront. For the RCB, opening batter Phil Salt exploded at the top with 37 from just 17 balls, while Tim David flourished at the death with his 37-run cameo.
In response, Delhi Capitals lost both openers, as well as Abishek Porel and captain Axar Patel cheaply to slip to 58-4 in 8.4 overs to Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2-26), Yash Dayal and Suyash Sharma. However, number four batter KL Rahul forged 111 runs for the fifth wicket with Tristan Stubbs (38* off 23) to steer Capitals past RCB with more than two overs to spare. Rahul top-scored in the chase by cracking 93* from just 53 balls with seven fours and six huge sixes.
Virat Kohli Completes 1,000 IPL Boundaries
Virat Kohli became the first cricketer in IPL history to reach 1,000 boundaries. The legendary RCB opener struck one four and two sixes in his 14-ball 22 against Delhi Capitals to get to the landmark figure. With 721 fours and 280 maximums, Kohli’s current IPL tally sits at 1,001 boundaries. Notably, Virat Kohli’s haul of 721 fours marks the second highest among all IPL cricketers behind Shikhar Dhawan, and his collection of 280 sixes places him third among the leading six-hitters in IPL behind Chris Gayle and Rohit Sharma.
Khatun, Ferdus’ Five-Fers And Sultana’s Ton Sinks Thailand
Bangladesh Women walloped their Thailand counterparts by 178 runs to start their ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Qualifiers with a huge win at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground. Batting first, Bangladesh hauled 271-3 from 50 overs, with captain Nigar Sultana blasting an 80-ball 101.
