Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, stepped away from the hustle and bustle of the cricketing world to embrace a moment of serenity in Mumbai on October 20. The power couple attended a soulful kirtan by Krishna Das at Nesco in Mumbai, drawing attention from fans.

The kirtan was not just an escape for Virat Kohli from the recent defeat against New Zealand, but a spiritual retreat that marked his return to a place of peace after a tough Test match in Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma Embrace Spiritual Vibes at Krishna Das Kirtan in Mumbai

The couple occupied the front row during the event, fully immersing themselves in the spiritual vibes. The organisers shared photos of Kohli and Anushka clapping and beaming along with the crowd, which was on its feet, moving in unison to the melodious chants. Videos from the event also went viral on social media.

Anushka, dressed in simple attire, was seen engaging deeply with the atmosphere, while Kohli wore his trademark smile, perhaps finding a silver lining amid the dark clouds of the first Test loss. The event organisers captioned the shared photos:

"Virat and Anushka joined us at Krishna Das Live in Mumbai today, seeking blessings and connecting with the serene atmosphere. Their presence added to the collective devotion, making the gathering even more special,” wrote the organizers in a post on Instagram.

Virat-Anushka’s Kirtan Connection

This wasn’t Kohli and Anushka’s first rendezvous with Krishna Das’s music. The duo had previously attended a similar kirtan in London earlier this year in July, following India’s victorious T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. Even then, the couple chose to tap into the divine, as they took a spiritual breather away from the limelight.

Kohli’s Bangalore Blues

Kohli recently battled hard in the opening Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Despite India’s embarrassing loss by eight wickets and Kohli’s own struggles in the first innings, where he was dismissed for a duck, the former captain’s fighting knock of 70 in the second innings proved to be a saving grace.

IND vs NZ 2nd Test on the Horizon

With the second Test of the three-match series against New Zealand set to begin on October 24 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Kohli’s brief spiritual break comes as a timely intervention.

India has had a mixed record in Pune, having lost their maiden Test there against Australia in 2017 before redeeming themselves with an innings victory over South Africa in 2019. Kohli will look to make a strong comeback as India aims to turn the tide in the series.
