In an ongoing match between India and New Zealand at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Indian fans have dealt a blow as Virat Kohli has returned to the pavilion on the last ball of the day's play.
India started play on day three on a low as Rachin Ravindra smashed a century that helped New Zealand take a 356-run lead after the first innings. In reply, India showed intent, and unlike the collapse in the first innings, the hosts ended the day with 231/3 on the board.
Virat Kohli Falls Before Century
Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan were the stars with the bat as they stitched fifty-plus scores. Talking about Virat, he scored 70 (102), which featured eight fours and a solitary six.
The former India skipper was looking to score a much-awaited century but fell prey to Glenn Phillips and edged the ball to the keeper. On the last ball of the 49th over, which was also the last ball of the day, Phillips bowled a fuller delivery that moved away from Virat and took the edge.
Drama Follows After Virat's Wicket
The wicket was no less than a drama as the umpire took his time to raise the finger. When he did, Virat immediately took a review. However, the ultra edge showed a spike that left the fans in shock, while a few even questioned wasting a review.
Following Virat's wicket, skipper Rohit Sharma was also in shock and frustrated as India were in a strong situation compared to day 2. Now it is to be seen whether Rishabh Pant will come to bat at No.5 or No.6, as he was seen practising during tea on day 3.
