India star Virat Kohli was seen leaving Bengaluru in disguise after the team's humiliating loss against New Zealand in the first Test. Notably, India conceded a 1-0 lead to the visitors after they lost the first match by eight wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
In a video that is rapidly gaining traction on social media, Virat Kohli is seen leaving the airport in a shroud of secrecy. The star exchanged a few words with an airport staff as he prepared to board the flight. Kohli, in a bid to maintain his privacy, covered his face with a mask and sunglasses over his eyes.
The Indian batter was leaving for the second Test of the series at Pune. The match will be played from 24 October.
India failed to pose a challenge New Zealand even after resilient batting in second Innings
Coming back to the first match, India decided to bat first after winning the toss under overcast conditions. The decision backfired as the Indian batters struggled against the movement the Kiwi bowlers got from the wicket and were bundled out for a paltry total of 46 runs.
In reply, led by Rachin Ravindra's brilliant Hundred, New Zealand posted 402 and took a massive lead of 356 runs. India put in a better batting effort in the second innings. Sarfraz Khan's dynamic 150 and Rishabh Pant's gutsy 99 helped India take a lead of 106 runs, but it was not enough to pose a significant challenge to the visitors.
Even though New Zealand lost an early wicket in the fourth innings, they managed to go past the target with eight wickets in hand. It was New Zealand's first Test win on Indian soil after 36 years and the third ever in the history of the game.
Virat Kohli needs to step up for Indian in the second match
Virat Kohli did not trouble the scorers in the match's first innings. However, in the second innings, the star Indian batter played a dynamic knock of 70 runs and played a crucial role in the fightback India showed.
India will be looking to bounce back strongly in the second match of the series. Virat Kohli will play a crucial role as he seems to have regained his form. His contributions will be essential for the team in the next match, as the stability of the middle order will depend a lot on him.
