The wedding festivities of Pakistan cricketer Imam-ul-Haq commenced with a vibrant qawwali night in Lahore on Thursday. Among the notable attendees was former Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who shares a close friendship with Imam. The event, part of Imam's wedding celebrations with his Norwegian fiancée Anmol Mehmood, gathered significant attention on social media.

Babar's amusing reaction at Imam-ul-Haq's Qawwali night goes viral

Videos and images from the lively event showcased Babar alongside fellow cricketers Usman Qadir, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Kamran Akmal, and the former chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq. The joyous occasion was marked by the cricketers, including the groom Imam and Sarfaraz, immersing themselves in the music, particularly during the song “Mera piya ghar aaya, oh ram ji”. Currency notes flew around in a traditional expression of celebration, capturing a fun and memorable moment.

Interestingly, Babar Azam's reaction became a highlight of the evening. Amidst the festivities, he was seen somewhat awkwardly smiling, resorting to using his phone, showing a contrast to the exuberant mood around him.

Meanwhile, Babar is set to face a challenging phase in his professional career. He will be up against Australia in an upcoming three-match Test series, starting December 14 in Perth. This series is particularly significant as it marks Pakistan's first international engagement since the World Cup 2023 debacle and is the first series since Babar relinquished his captaincy in all formats.

The team will be under the new red-ball leadership of Shan Masood, appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently. It will be interesting to see if Babar can reclaim his old form without the captaincy burden.
