The five-match T20I series between India and Australia got underway last evening, where the crowd at Visakhapatnam witnessed a last-ball high-scoring thriller, where the home side prevailed by two wickets.

Chasing a stiff 209-run target, India were helped by fifties by Ishan Kishan, captain Suryakumar Yadav, and a quick-fire cameo by Rinku Singh, which ensured the hosts go into the second encounter with a 1-0 lead.

Kishan, especially took charge against the Australian bowler, mainly targeting their spinner Tanveer Sangha. The wicketkeeper-batter stitched a 111-run stand with Yadav, scoring a blistering 39-ball 58, which included 27 runs off Sangha alone.

As quoted by Hindustan Times, Kishan stated he intended to take on Sangha from the get-go, explaining how the young batter worked on playing leg-spin during the World Cup.

Here's what Ishan Kishan said

"During the World Cup, when I wasn't playing, I asked myself before every practice session 'What is important for me now? What I could do?' I practised a lot in nets. I was constantly talking to the coaches about the game, how to take the game deep. How to target certain bowlers."

"The communication was very important in the middle. I had a chat with Surya bhai. 'I'm gonna take this guy (down) wherever he bowls' because we needed the close the gap between runs and balls. You can't leave too many runs for the batters at the back. It won't be easy for them to play the big shots straight away. I had to take my chances and I believed in myself."

The second T20I will be played at Thiruvananthapuram on November 26.
