Umran Malik is one of those elite bowlers who have the ability to clock 150 kmph often. Considering the amount of hard work fast bowlers have to put in, they become more prone to injuries related to their back or ankle. And that's what happened to Umran as he got injured in his first game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023.

The Indian speedster plays domestic cricket from Jammu and Kashmir and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. He rose to popularity due to his sheer pace as only a few can bowl at the pace he can and that too consistently.

In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023, while playing for Jammu and Kashmir, Umran hurt his ankle and walked off the field in the game against Karnataka.

Umran Malik doubtful for the rest of VHT

The young speedster has already represented in India and still working on his lengths. Umran Malik was left out of the ongoing T20I series against Australia as he still needs to work on his lengths. Now that he has picked up an injury, he is likely to be ruled out of this year's Vijay Hazare trophy.

This can be a huge setback for him as he was in the scheme of things for the Indian team. As we approach the T20 World Cup 2024, Umran's chances of getting into the team have gotten thin due to this injury as he won't be left with many games before the big tournament.

Only a terrific IPL season can help him get into the Indian team if he manages to recover in time before the start of the IPL 2024.
