At just 14 years of age, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is redefining cricket. Already hailed as one of India’s most rising cricketing star after his record-breaking IPL century earlier this year, Suryavanshi stunned fans yet again with a whirlwind knock for India U-19 in the opening ODI against England U-19.
Chasing a modest target of 175, the young prodigy walked out wearing the iconic No. 18 jersey and played an innings that oozed audacity and maturity beyond his years. Suryavanshi smashed 48 runs in just 19 balls, including five monstrous sixes, to give India a flying start. His explosive opening stand of 71 runs with Ayush Mhatre effectively took the game away from England.
The chase for India was well under control, and Abhigyan Kundu ensured a smooth finish as India cruised to a comprehensive victory to go 1-0 up in the five-match series.

His 35-ball hundred against Gujarat Titans remains one of the most talked-about innings of the tournament. He finished the season with 252 runs in seven matches with an average of 36.00 and strike-rate of 206.55.
With a 1-0 lead secured, the Indian team now moves to Northampton, where the second ODI will be played on June 30. The five-match series will be followed by a two-match Youth Test series starting July 12.
