Iyer's Cricketing Challenges Pose A Serious Threat
On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer's cricketing season so far has been marred by significant challenges. The right-handed batter, began the year on a difficult note, suffering an injury that ruled him out of the much-anticipated series against England. As a result of which he was excluded from the central contract due to his hesitation to return to domestic cricket.
Then, his opportunity to showcase his skills in the Duleep Trophy was crucial, but unfortunately, he failed to seize the moment. Leading the India D team, Iyer’s performance was disappointing, with just 154 runs across six matches at an average of 25.67.
Despite registering two half-centuries during this period, Iyer has also faced considerable struggles at the crease, highlighted by three single-digit scores, including two ducks.
