Jasprit Bumrah claimed a fifer in the Boxing Day Test against Australia, which recently concluded at MCG. Though India lost the game, Bumrah's son, Angad, was captivated with a red ball, celebrating his father's achievements.

Team India faced a humiliating defeat in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The host team posted 474 runs in the first innings before India succumbed to 369. Australia went on to pile up a 340 run target and the visitors got bowled out for 234 runs on Day 5 of the game, thus enduring a 184-run defeat.

However, from India's point of view, the match had various positives to be taken. Nitish Reddy scored his maiden Test century, and Jasprit Bumrah claimed a nine-wicket haul. In the third innings, he took five wickets and dismissed big guns from the middle order in Australia's batting line.

Bumrah, throughout the series, had acted as a backbone in the Indian bowling lineup, managing a total of 30 wickets in four Tests against India with a 12.83 average.

Meanwhile, Bumrah gifted his fifer balls to his son Angad, who was present in Melbourne with Sanjana Ganesan to watch him. Sanjana shared pictures of Angad playing with those red balls on her social media, stating that the family is proud of Bumrah's achievements and surreal effort.

That being said, Bumrah achieved a remarkable milestone in the MCG Test as he surpassed the 200 Test wickets mark on Australian soil. Achieving more than 200 wickets at an average of under 20 has put him above the legendary bowlers like Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner, and Curtly Ambrose.

Bumrah named finalist for ICC Test Cricket of the Year award

India's generational fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, was named in the long list of contenders for the prestigious ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year, including fellow nominees in batting greats from England, Joe Root and Harry Brook, and Sri Lanka's young star Kamindu Mendis. This has been one good year for Bumrah, the backbone of Indian bowling.

In just 13 games, the spearhead of the Indian fast bowling claimed a staggering amount of 71 wickets, topping the wicket-taking charts for 2024. His nearest competition, England's Gus Atkinson, trails by a much considerable margin with 52 wickets.
