When Rohit Sharma trains, the city stops to watch. That is exactly what happened at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park this week.
The former India skipper, who is all set up for his international comeback, found himself surrounded by fans who just couldn’t get enough of him. From chants to chaos, it was pure Rohit mania all over again.
Rohit steals the show at Shivaji Park
The 38-year-old opener was the cynosure of all eyes during his intense training session. Every time Rohit walked to the nets, the cheers grew louder. And when he middled a few signature pull shots into the stands, the crowd went absolutely berserk. Word quickly spread that Hitman was back in the groove and soon, hundreds rushed to the ground to see him in action.
However, amidst all the madness, one heartwarming moment stood out. A young fan, wearing a Mumbai Indians jersey, burst into tears after getting close to his idol. Rohit, noticing the boy’s trembling hands and teary eyes, took a moment to calm him down.
He gave the kid a gentle pat on the back, signed his jersey and even smiled for a quick selfie. That little gesture melted hearts online with the clip now going viral across social media.
Rohit steps in for a young fan
Things got a bit heated when a security guard allegedly pushed back a few fans who tried getting too close. Rohit, ever the man of the people, immediately intervened. He was seen gesturing at the guard, seemingly telling him to go easy on the young supporters.
Training hard for his comeback
The veteran batter hitting big in the nets too. During his session, Rohit was seen launching a few booming sixes so powerful that one of them allegedly landed near his own Lamborghini parked outside the ground. Talk about hitting out of the park, quite literally!
Rohit last played competitive cricket in IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians, but he is all set to don the India blue again for the upcoming ODI series in Australia starting October 19. It will be his first international appearance since the Champions Trophy final in March.
Having hung up his boots in Test cricket earlier this year, Rohit now looks ready to script another comeback, this time purely as a batter, after Shubman Gill took over the reins as India’s new ODI captain.
