The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 rolls on as England Women (ENG-W) take on Sri Lanka Women (SL-W) in Match 12 on Saturday, October 11 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The high-octane encounter is set to begin at 3:00 PM IST with England looking to extend their unbeaten streak and Sri Lanka hoping to turn their fortunes around at home.

England Women

England Women have made a perfect start to their World Cup campaign, winning both their matches with dominating performances. They began with a 10-wicket demolition of South Africa Women, followed by a four-wicket win over Bangladesh Women in their previous game, where England’s bowlers shone once again, bundling out their opponents for 178.

Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets while Charlie Dean, Alice Capsey and Linsey Smith chipped in with two wickets apiece. In the chase, skipper Heather Knight anchored the innings with a superb unbeaten 79, guiding her side to victory. With the momentum on their side, England will aim to complete a hat-trick of wins and continue asserting dominance in the tournament.

Sri Lanka Women

Co-hosts Sri Lanka Women have had a tough start to their campaign. They lost their opening match to India Women by 59 runs and saw their next fixture against Australia Women washed out due to rain. To bounce back, Sri Lanka will need strong performances from their top four of Hasini Perera, captain Chamari Athapaththu, Harshitha Samarawickrama and Vishmi Gunaratne.

Their spin attack, spearheaded by Inoka Ranaweera, remains their biggest weapon on home soil. She was outstanding against India and her partnership with Sugandika Kumari could be vital. However, for Sri Lanka to topple an in-form English side, their pace attack led by Udeshika Prabodhani must strike early and often.
