Rohit Sharma, a calm and composed character has often been compared with Football legend, Lionel Messi.

Both share similar traits and have often been touted as two of the best from their respective sport. On camera, both the athletes speak less, and rather their actions talk more. So, keeping this in mind, let us delve into the similarities which the two champion players share.

Both are naturally talented

As stated by Virat Kohli once, Rohit Sharma has 1.5 second more than anyone else when it comes to timing the ball. He was always touted as a natural striker of the ball, and has an pleasing look.

While Kohli is more associated with Ronaldo and hard-work, Rohit is often stated to be a more naturally gifted athlete, similar to Messi. The Argentinian great is a magician on the field, who is often said to be a god-gifted talent.

Calm and composed nature

It's not that both the players don't get angry, but the two have a calming nature, and are not easily provoked. Rohit is calm and composed, and being the leader of the Indian team requires this criteria. He is often seeing having a laid-back approach, something which often works for him.

Similarly, hardly anything provokes Messi. He is calm on the field, and lets his feet do the talking, rather than his words.

Both succeeded in winning World Cup towards latter half of career

Rohit Sharma, despite winning the T20 World Cup trophy in 2007, was in desperate need of another trophy. He won the Champions Trophy in 2013, and since then was eluded of an ICC trophy. He worked hard, failed, and he rose from the Ashes and finally captured the T20 title once again in 2024.

Similarly, Messi was inches away from winning the World Cup in 2014, but destiny had some other plans. Fast forward 8 years later, Messi'c crowning moment came, when Argentina won the World Cup against France. Just like Rohit, Messi tried, and tried and finally won the greatest prize in the sport.
