In a recent interview, Kolkata Knight Riders and India star, Rinku Singh revealed how his fiancée, Priya Saroj, broke down in tears after he smacked five sixes in five balls against Yash Dayal in the Indian Premier League 2023 season. He further added that Priya’s father did not know who he was before the clutch moment in 2023.
How Rinku Singh's love truly blossomed?
He further recalled that getting into the limelight after his heroics in the IPL helped him to ease the marriage talks with his soon to be father in law, as after the five sixes, he became aware of him.
"She (Priya) was crying on the phone. Saachi didi (Nitish Rana's wife) told me she was emotional. It was such a big day, five sixes were hit, people had started to know me. I was feeling that maybe things could become easier; about marriage and all that. At that time, her father didn't know who Rinku Singh was. He didn't know anything. He had no interest in cricket. Yes. He didn't have that much idea," Rinku shared on a video on Raj Shamani's YouTube channel.
The match which made Rinku world famous
It was a usual IPL day as the Kolkata Knight Riders took on the Gujarat Titans in the 2023 season. KKR needed 205 runs to win, and the final over was being delivered by Yash Dayal. In the last five balls, KKR needed 28 runs, and this is when Rinku brought calmness into the game and smacked five sixes in five balls to seal the win from an impossible situation.
The Rinku carnage gave his team a much-needed win, and it also brought Rinku into the forefront. Before the game, the KKR batter was just another name in the team sheet. But after the match, every household knew his name, and so did Priya Saroj’s father.
