Rinku Singh Reveals Funny Story About Virat Kohli’s Bat
Beyond sharing the crease and dressing room with Virat Kohli, his bat has become a prized possession among young players eager to get their hands on it. In the list, Rinku Singh is standing at the front of the queue. The famous incident from the IPL during a practice session, where he was asking bat from King Kohli, went viral in no time.
After that incident, he often gets questioned about borrowing Kohli’s bat and the star batter broke his silence. Speaking in the Long Off Lounge, Rinku reminisced about the time he played alongside Virat Kohli, which is when he first received a bat from King Kohli.
“Everyone wants Virat Kohli's bat because they are so good. We played a series together with Virat Kohli. So, I wasn’t very familiar with him back then. But when the IPL came, I asked him for a bat. So, I played the first game and continued with it in the second during the tournament,” he said.
“I started batting with that, but it got broken during the net practice. So when I went to Virat bhaiya to ask for the bat, the cameraman came chasing me. I told him I’d broken the last one and asked for a new bat. He looked at me and said, “How?” After he gave me the bat, the video went viral,” he added.
Even Rohit Can’t Escape Rinku’s Target
While his meeting with Virat Kohli is famous, even former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma couldn't avoid Rinku Singh's playful aim, despite hitting the opposition bowlers hard. Rinku shared the story of how he asked Rohit for a bat, creating another funny moment that had everyone laughing.
“The same story happened with Rohit bhaiya. He was sitting in the dug-out, and I was talking to Tilak Varma. So he came and gave the bat to Angkrish Raghuvanshi, which was already prepared. So I was a little shy of asking, but they let it go. Then he gave me the bat, and that video also went viral. It feels good to use the superstar’s bat,” he added.
After struggling with a dry run for a long time, Rinku Singh has secured his place in Team India’s Asia Cup squad. With several senior stars missing, his role in the lower order will be vital as the team aims for a strong and successful campaign.
