Sri Lanka have officially announced their team for the coming ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, and it's full of experience and talent. The tournament kicks off on September 30, with Sri Lanka taking on hosts India in Guwahati in what promises to be an exciting opener.

Leading the Sri Lankan team will be veteran all-rounder Chamari Athapaththu, who has been one of the top performers in women’s cricket over the years.

With her attacking batting and captaining skills, Athapaththu will be surrounded by a good pool of experienced players.

Some of the major names in the squad are Harshitha Samarawickrama, Nilakshi de Silva, and Anushka Sanjeewani, who have all been a part of the core side in recent times. Their experience will be vital as Sri Lanka aims to make a strong impact on the world stage.

Young batters like Hasini Perera and Vishmi Gunarathne have also been trusted. They’ve shown great promise since their debut and will be tasked to complement seniors like Athapaththu.

The team has a combination of youth and experience. Bowlers Inoka Ranaweera and Sugandika Kumari will be the workhorses with the ball, while up-and-coming players Vishmi Gunarathne will hope to make their presence felt.

That being said, Sri Lanka Women will begin their campaign against India Women on September 30 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
