India's promising opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal recently shared his experiences of working with head coach Gautam Gambhir during India’s tour of Sri Lanka and credited the ex-cricketer for instilling a fearless approach in him and the entire team with unconditional backing. Yashasvi Jaiswal is turning out to be the find of the generation for the Indian cricket team. His fearless brand of cricket, coupled with ability to hit big shots without pressure makes him an ideal candidate for opening slot across all formats.

In the five-game Test series against England held earlier this year, Jaiswal scored 712 runs across 9 innings to become the only second Indian batter to surpass the 700-run mark in a single series.

Jaiswal appreciates Gambhir's fearless brand of cricket!

Having said that, Yashasvi Jaiswal has found an ideal coach whose mindset is similar to his approach. The youngster played under newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir during the Sri Lanka white-ball tour and recalled his overall experience.

Jaiswal revealed that he had an extensive chat with Gambhir, who backed him in playing fearless cricket and expressing himself without the fear of failure. 

"Yes, I have spoken with him during the Sri Lanka series. He really backed us saying just go out and play freely and enjoy the game and we will be with you. It gives us a lot of confidence and helps us to play fearlessly," he said.

The opener added that Gambhir backed the entire Indian team to play a fearless brand of cricket and vowed to back them in case things go sideways.

That was a sign of a true leader who not only promised to back the team but also instilled a wave of confidence amongst the youngsters.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Gears Up For Home Test Season

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal was selected to play for India A in the ongoing Duleep Trophy as the young lad begins his preparations for the upcoming home Test series. He added:

"I am working hard at nets ahead, first for the Duleep Trophy and then for the Bangladesh series. It's not about setting personal goals, as you know in cricket you have to be consistent and keep working on your skills."

Jaiswal disclosed that he is working harder than ever in the nets to develop consistency as personal goals will take him nowhere. He concludued:

"Domestic tournaments like Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy are very important games and it gives me a lot of confidence and helps me prepare for those (international) games."

Not only that, the cricketer highlighted the importance of domestic cricket tournaments as it helps in building confidence and prepares one for international cricket.
