Women's T20 WC 2024 Prize Money Revealed; India To Get Massive Amount Despite Group Stage Exit

On Sunday, October 20, New Zealand women scripted history as they beat South Africa women by 32 runs to lift the T20 World Cup title for the first time. 

In the final, New Zealand, batting first, put 158 runs on the board. In reply, the Amelia Kerr-led side restricted South Africa to 126 runs. Skipper Kerr won the player of the match award as she took a three-wicket haul and also scored 43 runs with the bat.

In the latest events, ICC has revealed the prize money for the tournament, and it is worth noting that the White Ferns have been USD 2.34 million (Rs 19.6 crore). Further, the ICC increased the prize money by 134% for the winners from the last edition.  South Africa were also awarded a cash prize of USD 1.17 million (Rs 9.8 crore). 

India To Get 2.25 Crores 

It is to be noted that even India, who crashed out of the tournament in the group stage will not go empty-handed and are likely to finish at No 6 in the tournament's team ranking. Therefore, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will fetch the prize money of Rs USD 270,000 (Rs 2.25 crore). The same prize money will be given to all the three best teams of the group stage.

Further, semi-finalists, West Indies, and Australia will be given 5.7 crores each.

ICC Women's Team Of The Tournament Announced

On Monday, ICC revealed the team of the tournament. It features two New Zealand players and Harmanpreet Kaur is the only Indian to be a part of this team.
