Kyle Verreynne's Century- (Source: ProteasLover/X.com)
In the ongoing first Test match between Bangladesh and South Africa at the Sher-e-Bangla in Mirpur, Kyle Verreynne has scripted history as he became the first South Africa wicket-keeper to smash a century on Bangladeshi soil.
Verreynne brought up a 132-ball hundred and smashed his second Test hundred. Kyle came to bat at a crucial time when the Proteas were 99/5 and still trailed by seven runs at that stage. Meanwhile, Verreynne stitched a 119-run stand with Wiaan Mulder for the 8th wicket that put South Africa in a commanding position.
Verreynne Goes Part Mark Boucher
Earlier in his innings, he broke Mark Boucher's record of 71-run knock to score the highest individual score against Bangladesh in Bangladesh.
Before this match, Kyle Verreynne had played 18 Test matches for South Africa and had scored 719 runs in them at an average of 27.65. He also has a century to his name in the longest format of the game.
After smashing his second Test hundred, Verrynne celebrated the knock in style and even bowed down to the dug-out similar to how Shubman Gill celebrates after smashing a hundred.
