Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) today, Monday, May 26, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. This is the last league match for both teams in IPL 2025, and both will be aiming for a top 2 finish to get an advantage in the playoffs.

Under new captain Shreyas Iyer, PBKS have looked like a different team. For the first time in 11 years, they’ve made it to the IPL playoffs.

But one big question on everyone’s mind is, will PBKS’s key spinner Yuzvendra Chahal play today?

Will Yuzvendra Chahal Play Today?

Chahal missed the last match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday due to a minor injury. PBKS spin coach Sunil Joshi said it was a “small niggle,” and ESPN reports suggest it’s a wrist issue. Because of that, it’s unlikely he’ll play today’s game either.

However, the team is hopeful that he will be fit in time for the playoffs.

In Chahal’s absence, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis played in the match against DC. Also, Praveen Dubey came in as an Impact Player and bowled two overs. He gave away 20 runs and took one wicket that of debutant Sediqullah Atal.

Still, PBKS struggled without Chahal. They couldn’t defend a big total of 206 runs and ended up losing the game in the final over.

Chahal has been the main spinner for PBKS this season. In 11 matches, he’s taken 14 wickets with an economy rate of 9.56. While those aren’t standout numbers, he has been reliable under pressure, keeping things tight when needed.
