Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has reached a major digital milestone by becoming the first Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise to cross 20 million followers on Instagram. The Bengaluru-based team continues to dominate the digital space, building on its unmatched popularity and fan loyalty.

RCB Hits 20M Soon After Surpassing CSK And MI

RCB’s follower count surged past the 20-million mark just weeks after it hit 18 million in early April 2025, highlighting the franchise’s rapid growth and sustained engagement.

The team had already overtaken traditional giants Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) earlier this year, and now holds a commanding lead in the IPL’s social media race.

The franchise’s content strategy, known for its fun, emotional, and interactive tone, has played a key role in driving this growth. RCB’s strong digital presence reflects its ability to connect with fans beyond the cricket field, offering behind-the-scenes moments, personal stories of players, and fan-driven campaigns that resonate across age groups.

RCB Official On Social Media Success

In a statement earlier this year, Rajesh Menon, Chief Operating Officer of RCB, credited their success to authenticity and consistent connection with fans.

“We really want to be present in our fans’ lives every day, we want to be relevant, we want to be interesting. Our social strategy attributes its success to authenticity, and highlighting the team’s personalities and celebrating the philosophy and our incredible fan base are a large part of this success,” Menon said.

The latest spike in followers follows RCB’s strong start to the 2025 season and high-voltage victories, including their dramatic win over CSK at Chepauk, their first-ever at that venue in 17 years, which created a wave of excitement on social media.

Currently third on the points table, RCB eyes the top spot in their last match of the league stage against LSG on May 27.
