In a big update for Indian cricket fans, JioHotstar has officially bagged the digital streaming rights for the upcoming India-England Test series 2025. This means fans will be able to watch all 5 Test matches live on the JioHotstar app and website.

The brand-new WTC cycle is set to begin from June 20, with India taking on England. The BCCI already announced India’s squad for the tour, led by new captain Shubman Gill.

Seniors like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli won’t be a part of the tour since they retired from the format earlier this month. And now, the streaming platform will also be changed.

JioHotstar To Stream IND-ENG Test Series

For the highly anticipated India-England Test series, JioHotstar signed a digital rights deal with Sony Entertainment Network (also known as Culver Max Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.), which holds the main broadcasting rights for all England cricket matches in India.

As part of this agreement, Sony has sub-licensed the digital rights to JioHotstar but will still show the matches on their TV channels through the Sony Sports Network.

The deal comes after nearly a month of talks between the companies and was finalised just recently. An official announcement is expected very soon.

But that's not all, this digital partnership between Sony and JioHotstar will also continue into 2026 when India tours England again for a white-ball series (3 ODIs and 5 T20Is). JioHotstar will stream those matches too.

Sony had earlier signed a long-term 8-year deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that runs till 2031. The ECB also helped make this current streaming arrangement possible.

JioHotstar Hits 200 Million Subscribers

Streaming platform JioHotstar has achieved a massive milestone, crossing 200 million paid subscribers, thanks to its affordable plans and blockbuster IPL 2025 streaming. Now ranked behind only Netflix and Prime Video, it’s the third-largest streaming platform globally.

Vice Chairman Uday Shankar said the company aims to reach every Indian viewer, as JioStar continues to expand its content offerings following the Disney–Reliance media merger.
