Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have some good news as they head into the IPL 2025 playoffs, Zimbabwe’s fast bowler, Blessing Muzarabani, has joined their team.
RCB have already made it to the playoffs, but they recently lost a high-scoring match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which hurt their chances of finishing in the top two on the points table. Finishing in the top two would have given them two chances to make it to the final.
RCB Welcome Zimbabwe’s Star Pacer Blessing Muzarabani
On Monday morning, RCB shared a picture on their official social media, announcing:
“🚨 NEWS: Blessing Muzarabani joins RCB for IPL 2025. 🔥 ✅ 24th May - Part of a historic Test for Zimbabwe against England 🇿🇼🏴 ✅ 25th May - Joins the RCB Camp.”
RCB signed Muzarabani for ₹75 lakh. He’s a tall fast bowler who has played 70 T20 International matches and taken 78 wickets. He’s also played 13 Test matches and 55 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Zimbabwe.
Before joining RCB, Muzarabani was playing in a one-off Test match for Zimbabwe against England. This was Zimbabwe's first Test in England in 22 years.
Zimbabwe were bowled out for 255 runs in their second innings, and England won the match by an innings and 45 runs.
Notably, Muzarabani is joining RCB as a temporary replacement for South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi. Ngidi will be leaving on May 26 to join South Africa’s squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, which starts on June 11 at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
This will be Muzarabani’s first time playing in the IPL. Although he’s not very experienced in big leagues like this, RCB hope his pace and energy will help them in the crucial playoff matches.
So far, RCB, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians have made it to the playoffs. Now with Muzarabani joining, RCB is looking to boost their bowling attack for the final push.
