In a recent travel ordeal, legendary South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes found himself at odds with Air India, expressing his frustration over a series of unfortunate events during a flight from Mumbai to Delhi.

Known for his stunning fielding on the cricket pitch, Jonty Rhodes took to social media to air his grievances, slamming the airline for what he described as a "bad luck" travel experience.

Jonty Rhodes' frustrated tweet prompts an apology from the airline

Rhodes’ troubles began when his flight from Mumbai was delayed by over an hour and a half, a delay that tested the patience of even the most seasoned travellers.

However, the real kicker came when Rhodes boarded the plane only to discover that the seat assigned to him was broken. In a twist of fate that seemed almost too ironic to be true, the cricketer was asked to sign a waiver, acknowledging the faulty seat.

"Why me?" the former South African international lamented on X in a lengthy tweet that captured the sentiment of a man who had clearly had enough.

Rhodes didn’t stop there. With a tiring 36-hour travel itinerary ahead of him, which included a return flight to Mumbai followed by a journey back to Cape Town via Ethiopian Airlines, the legendary cricketer admitted he was "not looking forward" to the impending flights.

Air India, quick to catch wind of the post, offered a public apology, promising to thoroughly investigate the matter and share the feedback internally.

Jonty Rhodes hints at Rohit Sharma's possible move to LSG

While this incident is certainly a black mark on Air India’s reputation, another comment made by Rhodes in the same breath has set the cricketing world abuzz.

In what could be described as adding fuel to the fire of ongoing rumours, Rhodes hinted at the possible arrival of Rohit Sharma to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the upcoming IPL 2025 season.

With reports swirling about Sharma's possible departure from Mumbai Indians after a disappointing season, Rhodes, who serves as LSG's fielding coach, subtly hinted that they would be more than ready to roll out the red carpet for the Indian cricket legend, should he decide to join the auction.
