West Delhi Lions skipper Hrithik Shokeen’s rough patch in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 shows no sign of abating.

In Match 24 against Purani Delhi-6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Hrithik Shokeen’s poor form continued, adding more fuel to the fire as the IPL 2025 auction looms on the horizon.

After being put in to bat by Purani Delhi-6, West Delhi Lions got off to a decent start, posting 27 runs on the board without losing a wicket in the first 3.1 overs.

However, the tide turned dramatically when Aayush Singh Thakur struck twice in quick succession.

Opener Ankit Kumar was dismissed for 16, followed by Anmol Sharma, who departed for a duck just three balls later.

Amidst the early chaos, all eyes were on Hrithik Shokeen as he walked to the crease. The former Mumbai Indians all-rounder was expected to steer his team out of troubled waters, but his stay at the wicket was short-lived.

On the penultimate ball of the fifth over, Prince Yadav delivered a perfect yorker that shattered Shokeen’s off-stump.

Attempting to drive through the covers, Shokeen misjudged the line and length, resulting in a two-ball stay for just 4 runs.

Will Hrithik Shokeen turn the tables around ahead of IPL 2025 auction?

His departure, yet another disappointment in what has been a dismal season, is raising alarm bells ahead of the IPL 2025 auctions. The all-rounder will need to get back in form quickly as IPL 2025 auction is looming large.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing this article, West Delhi Lions are teetering at 43/3 after 7.2 overs, with Aditya Bhandari and Krish Yadav at the crease, trying to salvage the innings.

A victory is imperative for the Lions, who currently find themselves at the bottom of the points table with just two wins from seven matches. The clock is ticking, and unless Shokeen and his team find their footing soon, their DPL 2024 campaign could be all but over.
