Purani Delhi-6 pacer Aayush Thakur's sensational bowling in the powerplay proved to be the turning point in the DPL 2024 clash against West Delhi as he chipped two wickets in an over to rattle the Lion's top order.

The DPL 2024 season is turning out to be a hit, as staggering performances from underdog players have forced fans to stand and take notice.

In the recent game between Purani Delhi-6 and West Delhi Lions, pacer Aayush Singh Thakur shined with a stunning spell in the powerplay.

Purani Delhi won the toss and elected to bowl first on an unpredictable Arun Jaitley Stadium pitch.

West Delhi Lions openers Krish Yadav and Ankit Kumar were off to a steady start, but before they could exploit Delhi-6, Aayush Singh Thakur got as many as two breakthroughs in a single over.

West Delhi put under pressure by superb bowling from Aayush

Aayush was summoned to bowl the fourth over of the powerplay by captain Arpit Rana. For the second delivery, Thakur bowled a fuller delivery onto Ankit Kumar's pads. 

The batter went for a pull but missed the timing by miles, resulting in a regulation catch at short fine leg. Prince Yadav moved to his right to secure a comfortable catch.

In the same over, Aayush Singh Thakur changed his length to deceive the new batter on the crease, Anmol Sharma. The ball was well outside the off-stump line, and in a bid to defend from the front foot, Anmol got an inside edge that crashed into his stumps. 

The unfortunate wicket reduced West Delhi Lions to 27/2 in no time. Meanwhile, Aayush finished with a four wicket haul whereas WDS could only put up a 139 runs total on the board.
