The Indian team led by Shubman Gill are currently playing a 5-match T20I series against Zimbabwe in their own backyard.

With the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli taking retirement from the shortest format, a young crop of players were sent for this tour, with the aim to retain the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka.

The Indian team recently captured the T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa in the finals at Barbados. They last won the tournament in 2007, and this marked their second T20 World title. Despite winning the coveted title, the jersey for the Zimbabwe T20I series has only one star, and not two.

Why Indian team has only one star on jersey? Check reason

The stars on the jersey denotes the number of world titles the team currently has, and in India's case, they have won it twice.

However, the reason why the current India T20I jersey has only one star is because the squad departed for Zimbabwe before the finals of the T20 World Cup took place. The Team India jerseys were designed before their departure, and as a result, the old jersey doe not have two stars on it.

The two stars will be used from the next T20I series onwards, which will take place against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Gill won the toss and elected to field in the first game of the series.

The Indian bowlers displayed their skills and restricted Zimbabwe to a paltry 115/9. In reply, they have already lost debutant Abhishek Sharma for a duck.
