What Happened To Glenn Maxwell? Is The RCB All-Rounder Out Of IPL 2024?

Glenn Maxwell was left "embarrassed" by the incident which played out during an Adelaide night out last weekend after reportedly losing consciousness after drinking for hours and requiring medical attention to regain control of himself. 

Maxwell, who attended the Six and Out show at Governor Hindmarsh with his friends, was photographed with the crowd members and then drank and sang songs backstage with the band team led by former Australian speedster Brett Lee.

"It was during this interlude that Maxwell lost consciousness and did not immediately respond to attempts by friends to rouse him. An ambulance was then called and Maxwell’s next memory is of waking up on the way to hospital," reported Australia-based 'The Age'. 


Maxwell Opens Up On Embarrassing Night Out 

Cricket Australia (CA) medical staff met Maxwell on Tuesday (January 23) to try to determine whether the all-rounder had suffered concussion and dizziness because of the drinking night. The incident happened after CA had given Maxwell a rest from the ODI series against the West Indies after initially selecting him. 

"Glenn (Maxwell) is a little embarrassed by the whole thing," the cricketer's manager Ben Tippett told The Age."He was a bit sore and sorry on Saturday, but he’s back in Melbourne and resumed training yesterday. He’s not under investigation by Cricket Australia."

Maxwell also spent time with selection chief George Bailey also to explain his version of the events that led to the medical procedure. Bailey and coach Andrew McDonald were aware of the mishaps that occurred Friday night.

The selection panel had initially picked the extravagant all-rounder for the ODI leg of the West Indies' visit on January 11 but then decided to leave him out upon conversations with Maxwell to manage his workload after a long BBL campaign with Melbourne Stars. It was only after that decision that he attended the concert.
