Renowned cricket commentator and former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised the intriguing possibility of Rinku Singh stepping into Virat Kohli's shoes for the first two Tests against England. With Kohli withdrawing for personal reasons, the Indian selectors are actively searching for a replacement.

India will face England in a highly anticipated five-Test series, commencing with the first game scheduled in Hyderabad on Thursday, January 25. The first Test match of the series is even more intriguing because of Kohli's absence for the first two matches, which has led to speculation about the former Indian captain's replacement.

Chopra, in a recent video on his YouTube channel, highlighted Rinku Singh's name, questioning whether the 26-year-old left-handed batter could be a viable option. Chopra said,

"What about Rinku Singh? He was kept with the team in South Africa. He is not a one-trick pony. Check his first-class numbers, and he is not just a white-ball or T20 player. He doesn't make himself unavailable for first-class cricket."

Rinku, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, boasts an impressive first-class record, accumulating 3109 runs at an exceptional average of 57.57 in 44 games.

Chopra emphasized Singh's consistency in red-ball cricket, stating,"He has an average of over 50 and has been playing for many years. So why not Rinku Singh? Very tempting option."

The former India opener also mentioned Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal as potential replacements for Kohli, providing fans with a broader perspective on the selectors' choices.

Rinku Singh, a live wire on the field, has showcased his ability in red-ball cricket in the domestic circuit, displaying comfort against both pace and spin. With 7 centuries and 20 half-centuries in first-class cricket.
