The schedule for the forthcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 season has been tentatively released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). As per the itinerary, defending champions Mumbai Indians Women will face last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals Women in the opening match of the tournament, set to be played on February 23.

The WPL 2024 season will be staged across two different cities, thus marking a departure from last year’s WPL tradition of a single-city venue.

As per a tentative scheduled released by the BCCI, the WPL 2024 season will be hosted by two different cities. While the first half of the tournament will be staged at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the second half will be played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. The aforementioned schedule means that the iconic Delhi venue will also be hosting the high-profile Eliminator and Final fixtures, set to be played on March 15 and March 17 respectively.

The recently-released WPL 2024 schedule may be subjected to change, if required in the sole discretion of the BCCI.

Meanwhile, a Cricbuzz report suggested that the BCCI is planning to launch the IPL 2024 season from March 22 onwards. The aforementioned planning will be leaving a gap of five days between the conclusion of WPL 2024 and the commencement of the IPL 2024 season.

As far as venues for IPL 2024 are concerned, the board is currently in active discussions with the Indian government, considering the planned launch date is set to coincide with the concurrent general elections in India.
