New Zealand U-19 batter Snehith Reddy dedicated his century in the team's opening game of the ongoing U-19 World Cup in South Africa to "one of my favourites" and India's rising prodigy, Shubman Gill

As he reached the three-figure milestone against associate rivals Nepal in a Group D encounter played at Buffalo Park in East London, Reddy indulged in Gill's famous celebration act that seems to be catching up with the rest of the world now.

In Gill's signature style, Reddy bowed down to his team's dressing room before standing tall with his bat raised to soak in the reception from all those present at the ground and appreciate his century and great performance.

NZ U-19's Snehith Reddy Copies Gill's Celebration

"Shubman Gill is one of my favourite players. I love the way he plays and I decided to copy his celebration after reaching my hundred," the 17-year-old Indian-origin New Zealand cricketer told broadcaster Star Sports after the Kiwis crushed the Nepalese U-19 side on Monday (January 22).

Reddy emerged as the stand-out New Zealand batter in his team's first game of Group D in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa. The ambitious player smashed a whopping 147 not out off 125 balls to take the Black Caps to a massive 302/8 in their 50 overs.

The teenage player was ably supported in the task by skipper Oscar Jackson, who hammered 75 off 81 deliveries in his measured effort and combined brilliantly with his prolific partner to elevate the Kiwis past the 300 mark.

Later on, Jackson also showcased his allround skills with figures of 2 for 25 off his 7 overs and supported Mason Clarke (3/25) and Ewald Schreuder (2/54) in restricting the Nepal U-19s to just 238/9.
