Unbeaten India and defending champions England will be locking horns on October 29 in Lucknow for their sixth respective fixtures of the 2023 World Cup. In a bid to hype up the much-awaited showdown, the official broadcasters of the tournament recently released a short clip on their social media platforms where Indian batting veteran Virat Kohli and England’s speed gun Mark Wood can be seen talking about the competitive nature of the cricketing rivalry shared by the two nations.

Kohli praises Mark Wood, Adil Rashid in promo footage

A day prior to India’s World Cup 2023 match-up against a dispirited English line-up, batting veteran Virat Kohli heaped huge praise on Mark Wood for his sheer pace and tendency to trouble batters, and also described England’s Adil Rashid as an under-rated bowler. Kohli added that Rashid is someone he is looking forward to cross paths with when the two sides collide in Lucknow on October 29.

Wood, on the other hand, revealed his pre-match mindset by signifying his role as a key wicket-taker for his country.

To date, Team India, under Rohit Sharma, remains the only unbeaten side of the 2023 World Cup, having registered comprehensive wins in clinical run-chases against Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand.

England, on the other hand, failed to justify their ‘defending champions’ tag by losing four out of their five fixtures so far in the tournament. Currently placed at number nine on the World Cup 2023 points table, a win over India at this stage might instill some hope to their camp in their ravaged path towards an unlikely semi-final destination.
