Despite being knocked out of Asia Cup 2023, Nepal displayed grit and character in both their Group A matches. Last evening in a rain-truncated encounter against India, Nepal showed courageous batting under difficult conditions and managed to put 230 runs on the board.

India led by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill chased down the revised target with ease and notched up a comfortable win at Pallekele in Kandy.

For Nepal, it was a proud moment to play India on such a grand stage for the first time in international cricket. Post the match, both Indian and Nepalese players met in the dressing room and shared experiences, with most of the interactions being around Sharma and Kohli.

In a new, Nepal organised a small ceremony in their dressing room, where Indian players were seen felicitating the likes of Sompal Kami, Aasif Sheikh, and Dipendra Singh.

Nepal head coach Monty Desai acted as 'master of ceremonies' as Hardik Pandya gave out a medal to Kami, Kohli handed out a medal to Aasif, and India head coach Rahul Dravid congratulated Singh.

Wicketkeeper-batter Aasif became the first Nepal batter to score an international fifty against India, slamming 58 off 97. Singh scored a crucial 25-ball 29, while Kami was the second-highest run-getter for Nepal on Monday registering 48 runs.

India will face arch-rivals Pakistan in their first Super Four match on September 10.
