As per emerging reports, the Asian Cricket Council is unlikely to shift the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 matches from Colombo amidst rain threats in the city. Earlier, it was speculated that six Super 4 fixtures, including the high-voltage India vs Pakistan game, would be moved from Colombo, considering the chances of heavy downpours in the city this week. However, the matches, expected to be rescheduled at Hambantota, are likely to be staged in Colombo, as reported by Revsportz.

As per the media agency, the ACC is discussing with the concerned teams and is expected to release a formal statement on the matter.

Notably, the tournament was supposed to be conducted across four venues- Pallekele, Colombo, Lahore and Multan- across two different countries- Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The tournament kickstarted in Multan and headed to Pallekele, with Sri Lanka taking on Bangladesh and India crossing swords against Pakistan in the next two games. However, the inclement weather conditions in Kandy led the Indo-Pak clash to a washout before reducing India's next match against Nepal to a rain-curtailed affair.

As per the report, while the PCB have no objection for a change in the venue, the BCCI and SLC are reluctant to play in Hambantota due to several logistical reasons. Meanwhile, the weather forecast for Colombo doesn’t look promising for the next few days.

As the ACC is adamant about conducting the Super 4 in Colombo, some reserve days might be included in the original schedule to stage the rest of the tournament.
