'Aisa Kuch Nahi Hai Ki Khel Nahi Sakte Hain': Vikram Rathour Backs India Against Shaheen Afridi

With group stages of the Asia Cup 2023 almost over, the business end of the tournament commences with Super Fours on September 6. India qualified from Group A will once again be up against familiar foes in Pakistan, when both sides clash on September 10.

The high-voltage clash will again pit a star-studded batting lineup against an in-form rampaging bowling attack that troubled India the last time these two famed sides met.

The onus will be on the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli to see off Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, who have been a constant thorn in India's surge against Pakistan off late.

Speaking to the press, batting coach Vikram Rathour explained that Indian batters are capable enough to handle any attack, which includes Pakistan. As quoted by News18, the former India international stated that on a few times, bowlers will dictate terms, while on others batters will reign supreme.

Here's what Rathour said

“Of course, they are a good bowling attack. The conditions were different in the game against Pakistan. The wicket was doing something when the new ball was into the play and there was a rain interruption as well which the batters usually don’t like to have. But we managed to recover after losing early wickets, which is a good sign."

"Aisa kuch nahi hai ki khel nahi sakte hain (It’s nothing like that we can’t play them). They have a good bowling attack and on certain days, they will have the edge. But the day we get a good start, our batters are also capable of putting up a big score."

Afridi, in particular, has troubled ace Indian batters like Sharma, Kohli, and KL Rahul with his left-arm bowling and will be high in confidence having claimed four wickets last Saturday.

Meanwhile, good news for India will be the form of Sharma and Gill, who looked to have regained lost touch against Nepal.
