The Indian team played a dramatic match against Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I of the series. India managed to take a low-scoring game to the super over and then won it.

India batted first in the game and posted 137 runs in their 20 over. The Sri Lankan team were hopeful of their first win in the series and end the contest with a 2-1 margin. They got the start that they needed but made a mess of the chase in the middle-phase as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

Suryakumar Yadav stuns with the last over

The game down to stage where Sri Lanka needed six runs to win of the last over. In surprising move the Indian skipper, Suryakumar Yadav took the ball and came to bowl this over. Surya conceded only five runs off the over while picking up two wickets. This meant that the game ended in a tie.

In the super over India won the game rather comfortably. But the supernatural over bowled by SKY reminded the fans of an event which took place 31 years ago at the iconic Eden Gardens.

Sachin Tendulkar's iconic last over in Hero Cup 1993

In the semi final match of the Hero Cup, Sachin Tendulkar bowled an iconic last over. The Indian team batted first in that game and posted 195 in their 50 overs. The foundation of the chase was led by Andrew Hudson for South Africa. Later, Brian McMillan took the game deep for the Proteas.

The game boiled down to a similar equation of six from six. In an inspired move, the Indian skipper, Mohammad Azharuddin, handed over the ball to a 20-year old youngster, Sachin Tendulkar. There was a run-out of the first delivery, which saw Allan Donald join McMillan in the middle. Tendulkar bowled three dots of the next three balls and put India ahead in the game. Donald took a single of the fifth ball and handed over the strike to McMillan. The equation was now four off one. Sachin fired in a yorker and only a single was conceded. India won the game by two runs.

It was an inspired effort by Sachin Tendulkar that took India to the final of that tournament. 31 years later, Suryakumar Yadav did a similar job to take India to a 3-0 win over by Sri Lanka on their home turf.
