India are defending a moderate total against Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I of the three match series. Charith Asalanka won the toss in the game, and opted to field first. 

The Sri Lanka team made a great start to the match as the Maheesh Theekshana and Chamindu Wickramasinghe made light work off the Indian top order. The India team struggle to dig themselves out of the early trouble that they were in. 

Shubman Gill, Riyan Parag and Washinton Sundar showed some resilience and managed to take India to a somewhat fighting total of 137/9 in their 20 overs. Maheesh Theekshana was the star with the ball for Sri Lanka, as he picked up three wickets for 28 runs in his four overs. 


Ravi Bishnoi picks up the first wicket for India 

The Indian team needed quick wickets in the second innings to stay in the game. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side would have hoped to put Sri Lanka under pressure early in the innings to move ahead in the match and complete a white wash over the home team. However, that did not happen as Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis stitched a partnership of 58 runs for the first wicket. 

It was looking like that the two batters will bat the Indian team out of the game. But Ravi Bishnoi, the Indian wrist spinner managed to pick up the wicket of Pathum Nissanka and give the Indian team a glimmer of hope. 

On the fifth deliver of the ninth over, Bishnoi deceived Nissanka with his flight and change in pace. Although, Sri Lanka are well on the way to chase down the target, that wicket might have brought India back into the game momentarily.
