The India versus Sri Lanka match rolled to the Super Over in a dramatic turn of events. India were out to bat first in the game, they posted 137/8 in their 20 overs.

In the chase, the Sri Lankan team made a great start, but lost the plot towards the end. In a surprising turn of events, the Indian skipper, Suryakumar Yadav bowled the final over for India. He bowled a brilliant over under pressure and took the game to a super over.

India struggle in their batting effort

The Indian team struggled from the very beginning of their batting innings. However it was Shubman Gill and Riyan Parag who stabilised the innings of the team. Their partnership ensured that India were able to inch towards a respectable total. It took a good cameo of Washington Sundar in the end to take India to a fighting total.

Sri Lanka mess up their chase

The Sri Lankan openers made a solid start to the chase with a 58-run partnership. It looked like the duo will take Sri Lanka past the victory line rather comfortably. However, this did not happen.

Ravi Bishnoi picked up the first wicket for India and gave them the window to make a comeback into the match. But Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis once again tilted the game in favour of Sri Lanka with a 50 plus partnership.

India win the match in the super over

However, after this India chipped in with quick wickets and came back strongly into the game. The game came to a stage where Sri Lanka needed 6 runs off the last over to win the game. In a surprise tactical move, Suryakumar Yadav took up the ball and came to bowl the last over. SKY did the unthinkable as he not only conceded five runs off the over but also picked up the wickets of Kamindu Mendis and Maheesh Theekshana. His superb effort meant that the game went to the super over.

In the Super Over India handed the ball to Washington Sundar. The off-spinner only conceded two runs and picked up the two wickets to end the Sri Lankan super over. Surya himself came out to bat with Shubman Gill for India. SKY finished things off in style as he hit a boundary of the first ball off the super over and India won an unbelievable game.
