The winners of 2012 and 2014 editions of the Indian Premier League tournament, Kolkata Knight Riders will kick start their IPL 2024 training campaign on 15th March 2024.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, recently, released the IPL 2024 schedule for the first 21 matches. In the first installment of IPL schedule, KKR are slated to play their first three matches against SRH, RCB, and DC.

Shreyas Iyer and Co. are due to play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 23rd March 2024. Kolkata-based franchise will then take on RCB on 29th Match, followed by a clash with DC on 3rd April 2024.

In the absence of some star players, KKR endured an underwhelming outing last year. However, they would be keen to make a strong comeback ahead of a new season.

Their most successful captain in the tournament’s history, Gautam Gambhir has joined the franchise as their mentor, while Shreyas Iyer will return as captain.

Of late, Shreyas Iyer has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. He would be keen to showcase his mettle and silence a lot of his critics. All the players and other members of the group will join and kick start the preparations on 15th March 2024 at Eden Gardens. Although, some of them will join, later, due to their national commitments.

Mitchell Starc to join the squad on 17th March 2024

Meanwhile, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc will join the KKR camp on 17th March 2024. He will make his presence felt at Eden Gardens after completing the Test series against New Zealand, which ends on March 12 as per schedule.

Kolkata Knight Riders broke their bank for the Aussie pacer at the IPL 2024 auction as they bought his services for a whopping amount of INR 24.75 crore, making him the costliest player ever in the history of the cash-rich event.

Notably, the franchise bagged his services back in 2018 but he was ruled out of the season due to a stress fracture in his right leg. The left-arm pacer hasn’t appeared in the Indian Premier League, since and will be making his long-awaited return.
