There might be numerous rivalries in cricket, but most of them are between different nations. Nothing like the hate a couple of cricketers, one of whom is Shakib Al Hasan, receive from their own nation.

Shakib, the former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team and now a member of parliament, has often been the target of intense hatred from numerous fans of his own country. It's shocking, but not surprising, that another video has emerged from the GT20 Canada 2024 tournament, showing fans brutally abusing him for his silence. 

In the video, the fan is heard questioning Shakib about the political situation in Bangladesh and also hurling abuse towards him. 



The 37-year-old, elected to the National Assembly led by Sheikh Hasina Wazed, has been criticized for not addressing the unrest in his home country.

While addressing the incident, BCB Chairman Mohammed Jalal Yunus has expressed his discontentment. 

“I haven’t seen the video, so it wouldn’t be right for me to comment. However, what he did was certainly not correct. Everyone has contributions in different areas, and questioning Shakib’s contributions wasn’t appropriate," he said.

Meanwhile, the ongoing political turmoil in the Bangladesh has raised questions whether or not the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup will take place there.
