Shakib Al Hasan is one of the legends of Bangladesh cricket, arguably their best-ever cricketer and whenever he plays for Bangladesh in any format, he provides that extra balance to the team. However, the man is now 37-year-old and there were rumours that he will retire from the game or atleast from T20Is and Test cricket after T20 World Cup 2024.

However, he has now made himself available for the two-match Test series against Pakistan, refuting the rumours of his Test retirement. Bangladesh are slated to play two Test matches in Pakistan, the first one of it will be played in Rawalpindi from 21st of August while the second Test will start on 30th of August in Karachi.

Shakib Al Hasan To Play Champions Trophy 2025?

Shakib Al Hasan last played Test cricket for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in April 2024, and his interest to play Test cricket again for Bangladesh speaks volume of his commitment towards Bangladesh cricket.

However, there is still doubt over Shakib's availability in the T20 format after mediocre returns in T20 World Cup 2024. He is likely to play ODI cricket though, with Champions Trophy 2025 and it would be interesting to see how he goes about his business in these formats in what could be his last phase in international cricket.
