Indian captain Rohit Sharma flayed England’s visiting attack with a scintillating match-winning century in the second ODI match of the series in Cuttack. The cricketer minted 119 runs from just 90 balls with 12 boundaries and seven huge sixes to make lightwork of England’s 304-run total.

Apart from winning the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his heroics, the legendary Indian opener also won over the internet by demonstrating a heartwarming gesture for a young fan at a team hotel in Bhubaneswar.

During a team dinner at a hotel in Bhubaneswar after India’s emphatic four-wicket win over England, a young fan walked up to Rohit Sharma for a friendly interaction. Sharma, in return, made the young fan’s day by signing an autograph on his t-shirt.

The fan then approached Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who also provided him the desired autograph.


Rohit Sharma and the rest of his Indian colleagues will now face England in the third ODI match at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match will be played on Wednesday, February 12 and the action is slated to commence from 1:30 PM IST onwards.

The much-awaited contest marks India’s final international outing before the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE next week.

Sharma, who underwent a disastrous tour of Australia with the bat, gained some positive momentum through his blistering match-winning ton against England in Cuttack. His innings will surely put the legendary Indian opener in much better shape going into the eight-team tournament.

India’s first match of the Champions Trophy will be played against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai.
