Rinku Singh smashes half-century in the quarterfinals of the SMAT 2023
The T20 tournament of the Indian domestic cricket circuit, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 have reached its knockout stage. Baroda has made it to the semifinal by beating Mumbai, while Uttar Pradesh has put up a defendable total against Punjab in the ongoing clash.
The Aligarh boy, Rinku Singh put up a show in the first innings scoring 77 off just 33 deliveries. The left-hander rose to popularity after smashing five sixes in an over in the IPL against his domestic teammate, Yash Dayal.
Rinku's finishing touch is what the teams look for in the shortest format of the game and he has been putting up shows consistently. On his debut for India against Ireland, he could not bat but in the second game, he smashed the bowlers all over the park and was named the Player of the Match.

The Punjab team got a hold of the UP's top order but Rinku Singh and Sameer Rizvi played impressive knocks to help UP reach a respectable total of 169. Rinku smashed 77 runs including four boundaries and six sixes, while Sameer Rizvi was not out on 42 off just 29 deliveries.
With two sixes in a row in the first two deliveries of the 19th over, Rinku Singh notched up his half-century. Even in the last over which was bowled by Arshdeep Singh, Rinku smashed three sixes and Arshdeep went for 23 runs.
The UP bowlers have done an amazing job so far as half of the batters of Punjab are already in the Pavillion and the asking rate is going beyond reach. Now that they have lost Nehal Wadhera as well, it seems like Rinku's team is cruising towards the semifinal spot.
