India's quest for an out-and-out pace sensation might be nearing its end. Over the years, bowlers like Umran Malik and Varun Aaron have shown sparks but haven't been able to firmly establish their position in the national squad. However, in recent times, a fresh face is causing ripples in the domestic cricket scene - Kartik Tyagi.

Kartik Tyagi's thunderous 152 kmph delivery had fans buzzing

The young pacer, who first gained attention with his commendable performances in the Under-19 World Cup 2023 and the Indian Premier League (IPL), is now emerging as a formidable force to be reckoned with.

In the Pre Quarter Final 1 of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Tuesday, Tyagi's thunderous pace and pinpoint accuracy were on full display as he represented Uttar Pradesh against Gujarat.

Right from the outset, Tyagi was in a menacing form. The speed gun registered a blistering 153 kmph on his first delivery of the 15th over, sending a clear message to the batsmen. It wasn’t just a one-off either; the pacer consistently bowled at speeds exceeding 145 kmph throughout his spell.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad quick's brilliant bowling performance culminated in an impressive 1/27 in his four overs with Hemang Patel becoming his solitary wicket.

Meanwhile, the collective bowling effort by Uttar Pradesh was impressive. Veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar, known for swing and variations, was the standout performer with figures of 3/21 in his four overs. Mohsin Khan complemented the duo brilliantly, picking up 2 wickets and conceding only 13 runs in his spell.

Gujarat, under the relentless pressure exerted by the Uttar Pradesh bowlers, could only muster a score of 127/8 in their 20 overs. With the modest target set, Uttar Pradesh now looks poised to chase down the total and advance to the next stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023.

Only time will tell if Tyagi's consistent performances on the domestic circuit will earn him a spot in the Indian team. But if recent form is any indicator, India might be witnessing the rise of its next pace sensation.
