The Word 'Bazball' Gets Shocking Recognition By Collins Dictionary

The Collins Dictionary has included the word 'Bazball' as it was one of the ten most used words in the last year. The word Bazball was introduced by the editor of espncricinfo.uk, Andrew Miller. It was inspired by England's Test team coach, Brendon McCullum, who was known as Baz in the cricket world. 

McCullum was one the most lethal players in the world as he was the brutal hitter of the ball. Irrespective of the format, he used to play the same way in all three formats. The word Bazball was inspired by his on-field name and the sport, Baseball. 

Under the tenure of Brendon McCullum, England are known to play aggressive cricket in the Test format. The format which used to teach the players about patience, the approach of Bazball has eliminated Patience from their dressing room. Each one of the batters of the English team has been asked to play freely with a higher strike rate and they have been successful as well. 

How did the word 'Bazball' get included in the Collins dictionary?

Due to the increased usage of the word 'Bazball' in the last year, the word made it to the top ten most used words, to potray its meaning to wider people, the Collins Dictionary have included it. People can see it already listed in the online version of the Dictionary, while the printed version will be out next year. 

The word 'Bazball' according to the dictionary reads, "a style of Test cricket in which the batting side plays in a highly aggressive manner."

However, the England team could not continue the same approach in the ongoing World Cup 2023, as they have won just a single game out of the first six and there chances of featuring in the Champions Trophy 2025 are in jeopardy.
